This episode goes over some recent events Anne and Kat have been up to, specifically the work they have been doing with a local charity, Cocoon House in Everett - donating their time, and love of cooking to help feed teens, a cooking class at the Pantry and talk about the Kim K. vs. Alicia Keys. A pop icon’s death (along with his Mysogyny) and begin our Mascara Madness reviews!
Kat works with a headshot client who has a makeup experience abroad with some artists from the Philippines and compares the look to a couple of celebrities. To make this a bit clearer - A visual refresher for those who are like, “why is this so significant”?
Well, this is why. On the left we have full glam, beat down face and on the right, No-Makeup Makeup.
We don’t care who your idols are, but make sure they aren’t mysoginistic ass hats who likes to fat shame and judge women based on their looks.
It is Mascara March, March Mascara Madness? OK, it’s a lot of Mascara going on.
So, pay attention!
Having a hard time with Waterproof Mascara not coming off? Try this! Totally worth the purchase (and will save your lashes).
Products we love! Kat mentions an oldie but goodie - her Clairsonic! Skin issues pushed her to finally break down and get another set of brushes for her Mia. It is by far the BEST investment for skin that has a hard time with abrasives.
Kat’s routine is a little extensive at times. She does love her masks and a couple of times a week goes into a four hour routine (on those days where you just need a little more pampering). Anne references an old movie called “Brazil” Starring Katherine Helmond (Known for her role as “Mona” on Who’s the Boss)- who just recently passed away on the 23rd of February (RIP madam). Let’s all take a moment to honor her by watching this bizarre 1985 flick.
Influencers: How should we feel about them?
Sparkly Backdrops, brand ambassadors and a lot of makeup on the same face.
Anne and Kat go into detail on the world of Influencers, how times are changing and what THEY look for in a beauty influencer. Anne was asked to speak at the UW about “influencing” and what that looks like in regards to our profession - an interesting conversation coming from working, on location artists.
Kat dives into our youth chasing society, unattainable beauty standards and a video by Wayne Goss where he talks about Photoshop filters for You Tube videos and how it is fundamentally wrong.
